My First Posterous Post

Hi I am Lucy Trant from Listowel,  and today I planted the overwintering onions outdoors in a nice bed full of rich compost, the onions were planted in pots in the tunnel  previously at the end of October so were shooting nicely. I had tried to buy sets in Autumn but no luck and then I went to London for a weekend, and visited Kew Gardens while there, and purchased the sets there. (Kew Gardens are fabellous, but then I am a plant lover) Still on the subject of onions I have planted sets (that were purchased last week) in the tunnel to give them a bit of a head start, and will plant these out when they are all shooting in about 2-3 weeks. It will be interesting to see the difference  time wise, between the overwintering onions and this years sets, as to when they are ready to harvest. Have started planting other seeds in tunnel 2, those easy to germinate such as peas, beans, lettuce, and cabbage. We watered the trays when sown and covered with cling film, and put on a heated bench, which helps germination as it provides bottom heat.
